New York
New York City, a wonderful place
to visit in winter
|
| |
The hustle and bustle of the shopper-filled
streets, the beauty of ice skating in Central
Park on a sunny day, the elaborate decorations
in store windows and, of course, the giant
tree at Rockefeller Center are all a part
of the holiday spirit.
Have a look at my last year's stay in New
York, as I went there with my wife and my
son Leo. A friend of us came all the way
from Montreal by train, the only effective
way of transportation, after a snow storm
had fallen on the big city.
For all of us, New York had changed its
never-ending frenzy for a peaceful setting.
What a change! One of the most touching
moments we enjoyed was our stroll in Central
Park at the end of the day. The coldest
experience was for sure when we crossed
the Brooklin bridge to get in this district
in search of the little trendy restaurant
we had read about in our guide.
To see cross-country skiers as well as
snowblowers in the streets, instead of the
numerous taxicabs gave us the feeling to
be in a clone city under a different climate.
My advice: you've got to enjoy winter wonderland
in New York once in a lifetime!
